Vikinglotto Prizes and Odds
Although the most appealing part of the Vikinglotto is the jackpots availiable, there are also numerous consolation prizes on offer to players in every draw. These additional prizes mean that even if you fall short of matching all the numbers drawn to win the jackpot, you can still become a Vikinglotto winner.
The jackpot has a minimum value of €3 million (DKK19 million), which will rollover until it has been won or reaches its maximum amount of €35 million (DKK261 million). The jackpot cap is activated when it reaches this figure, and any additional funds from ticket sales are then carried down to the second prize tier, which also has a €35 million cap. The value of the second prize can never be higher than the jackpot, so if the cap is triggered in the second prize tier these funds are then shared amongst winners in the next tier.
The top two Vikinglotto prizes are always shared between all nine participating countries and, after that, each country’s official lottery provider decides what prizes are available in their nation. In Denmark, most prizes are determined on a pari-mutuel basis, which means prize values are based on the number of tickets sold and the amount of winners in each prize tier, so they can vary from draw to draw.
