How to Play Keno

To play Keno, you must pick numbers from 1 to 70. The goal is to match as many of the numbers you pick to the 20 winning numbers selected in the nightly draw. You have a few decisions to make in Keno, but it is a really easy game to play. Follow the steps below to take part:

  • Choose how many numbers to select, from a minimum of two to a maximum of 10.
  • Select your numbers.
  • Decide how much to pay per row - 5 kroner, 10 kroner, 20 kroner, 50 kroner or 100 kroner.
  • Select how many consecutive draws to enter. You can play up to seven consecutive days, or even 14.

A Keno coupon has three games printed on it - A, B and C - and you can decide how many of them you want to play.

If you don’t want to choose your own numbers, you can get them automatically generated by the computer. One of the most popular options is Million Keno, where you get five rows of nine numbers at a total cost of 25 kroner. You win 1 million kroner if all the numbers on one row appear in the nightly draw. Systems are also available in Keno, while you can subscribe to make sure you never miss a draw.

The Keno draw takes place between 9:05pm and 9:30pm every night, so make sure to get your entries in before the ticket sale cut-off time of 9:00pm.

Prizes

The prizes you can win in Keno are fixed amounts which are determined by several factors - how many numbers you selected and how many of them of them you matched, plus how much you have paid per row. The following table shows all the prizes you can win for each category, based on a 5 kroner stake per row.

The prizes you can win increase proportionally as you pay more to play the game. For example, if you pay 5 kroner and match nine numbers out of nine, you win 1 million kroner. If you pay 10 kroner and match all nine, you win 2 million kroner.

The maximum prize on Keno is 22 million kroner, if you select 10 numbers and match them all with a 100 kroner stake. Keno rules state that winnings cannot exceed 22 million kroner per prize level, so if there are multiple winners the prize pool may have to be shared between players.

The more numbers you pick, the more it is possible to win if you match them all. However, the fewer numbers you pick, the better your chances of matching them all to win. If you do win a prize, the next step is to claim your money. The exact process depends on how much you have won, and whether you played online or through a retail dealer. Go to the How to Claim page for more information.
